The new S.E. Shires Vintage LA Small Bore Trombone (STBVLA) blends historic influence with contemporary craftsmanship. Inspired by the legendary Los Angeles built small bores of the mid-20th century, it offers a warm, colorful, and instantly familiar playing experience: broad, expressive, and “played-in” from the first note.

A two-piece yellow brass medium-weight bell paired with custom yellow-brass hardware creates an expansive core that stays centered and stable at every dynamic. The custom tuning slide features matching yellow-brass components and a counterweighted brace for added focus and resonance. Its lightweight .500 bore yellow-brass handslide, built with a yellow-brass crook and vintage-style outer slide brace, delivers the lively clarity and quick response associated with the classic LA sound of the times.
